Project 'Safety on the Road’ A 12-month program is set to commence in Barangay Campbagang, Barobo, Surigao del Sur in the first quarter of 2018.  Primarily this is to help raise awareness of the local community on road safety measures for individuals, importance of safety equipment on motor vehicles and promotion of general good citizenry within the community. Key partners in the execution of this program are the local barangay officials, school teachers, police and traffic enforcers, as well as the local motor shop mechanics.  Key triggers: Statistics show high number of road accidents across the country. Causes are manifold, e.g. traffic participants’ behaviour, safety equipment not available or not           working. In barangays where street lights still lacking and highways used by all kinds of vehicles, accidents           involving locals usually happen when no specific pedestrian lane in place. Specifically, locals walk on dark streets with dark clothing and no light reflector; safety equipment of           local bicycles, tricycles, motorcycles often lacking or failing.
